Travel Season (travelseason.com) is published by Season Media Group, LLC ("we", "us"). Calder, a company under common ownership with us, provides advertising and data services to Travel Season and may receive information as described under Sharing for advertising. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

Newsletter. Your email address.
Booking requests. The forms on our travel and safari booking pages ask for your name, email, phone number, travel dates, destination, number of travellers, budget and preferences. We use these only to respond to you, and we do not share them for advertising.
Privacy requests and emails. Anything you send us through our forms or at team@travelseason.com.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, we and our partners collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

How we use your information

To respond to your enquiries and help arrange your travel.
To send our newsletter, if you signed up.
To understand which content readers find useful and improve the site.
To show advertising on our site and, if you join our newsletter, relevant ads on other websites and apps (see below).
To protect the site against spam and abuse.

Sharing for advertising

If you join our newsletter, we may share a hashed (scrambled) version of your email address with advertising and data partners. They match it to their own identifiers so that we and our partners can show you relevant ads on other websites and apps. Our ad slots and analytics tools also receive your device and browsing information, as described below.

Under California and some other US state laws, this may be a "sale" of personal information or "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page. We do not share information from our booking request forms for advertising.

The categories of recipients are advertising technology companies, identity and data partners, and ad exchanges.

Cookies and third-party services

Google Analytics. Measures site traffic and usage, and sets the cookies _ga and _ga_TT9R1N9BK6. We have turned off Google Signals and ad personalisation for our analytics, so this data is not used to personalise ads. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Advertising. Some pages show ads served by Balance Exchange and its demand partners, who may use cookies and your device information to show and measure ads. Our authorised sellers are listed in ads.txt. If you opt out, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, our pages do not request these ads for you.
Consent tool. Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland see a consent message from Google's Privacy & messaging tool. Analytics and ads wait for your choice there.
Pinterest. A verification tag that confirms we own this domain. It sets no cookies.
Embedded content. Some articles include content from Instagram, YouTube, X and map tiles from OpenFreeMap. These services may collect data about you as if you visited them directly.
Affiliate links. Some links earn us a commission if you book or buy. The partner site may set a cookie to record that you came from Travel Season. See our advertising policy.
Your opt-out. If you opt out on this browser, we set a cookie named ts_optout so we can remember your choice.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. We honour Global Privacy Control. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals, which have no agreed standard.

Other sharing

We also share information with service providers that help us run the site (such as Amazon Web Services for hosting and email), and when required by law or to protect our rights.

Categories of personal information

In the last 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by California law:

Identifiers: name, email address, phone number, IP address and cookie identifiers. Collected from you and your device. Hashed email addresses from the newsletter and device identifiers may be sold or shared for advertising.
Internet activity: pages viewed and interactions with our site. Collected from your device. May be shared for advertising through our ad slots.
Approximate geolocation: derived from your IP address. May be shared for advertising through our ad slots.
Inferences: interests drawn from the content you read or the newsletter you joined. May be shared for advertising.
Travel details: the trip information you put in a booking request. Used only to respond to you; never sold or shared.

We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not use or disclose any to infer characteristics about you or for advertising.

How long we keep it

Booking requests and emails: up to 2 years after our last contact.
Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we do not email you or use it for advertising again.
Opt-out and privacy requests: at least 24 months, so we can honour and prove them.
Analytics data: up to 14 months.

Your rights in California and other US states

If you live in California, you have the right to:

know and access the personal information we hold about you;
delete it;
correct it;
opt out of its sale or sharing;
limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use any for these purposes); and
not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states with similar laws have similar rights, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information. The same opt-out and request methods apply to you, and if we deny your request you may appeal by replying to our decision.

How to opt out: use our Your Privacy Choices page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we treat as a valid opt-out for that browser.

How to make a request: use the form on Your Privacy Choices or email team@travelseason.com. We will respond within 45 days. We verify a request by confirming it came from the email address it concerns, and we may ask for more information if needed. You may use an authorised agent, who must provide your signed permission.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland

We process your information on these legal bases:

Consent for analytics, advertising cookies and sharing your newsletter email for advertising. Analytics and ads wait for your consent, and the newsletter form asks separately before your email is used for ads.
Steps you ask us to take when you send a booking request or sign up for the newsletter.
Legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and free of spam.

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. To withdraw consent, use "Change cookie settings" on our Your Privacy Choices page. To make any other request, email team@travelseason.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

We are based in the United States, and your information is processed there. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will not use information in a materially new way without telling you first.
