A Guide To IHG Corporate Codes and Discounts

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) runs nearly 6,000 properties worldwide across brands like InterContinental, Kimpton, Holiday Inn, and Crowne Plaza, which makes it one of the most widely available corporate-rate programs for business travelers. Discounts typically land in the 10 to 30% range, with most rates including free Wi-Fi and flexible cancellation on top.
Like all corporate programs, the rate isn’t always the cheapest option on the night, so comparing matters. Here’s how to find and use IHG corporate rates, and when not to.
Find Your IHG Corporate Rate
If your company has an IHG rate, it’s probably already wired into your internal booking tool and you’ve never seen the code itself. If you want it for direct booking, your HR or travel desk can share it.
At the request of our partners, we have removed corporate codes from this page. If your company has an eligible corporate rate, you can still follow our guide on how to use them with various hotel partners.
Bigger employers sometimes have multiple IHG rates (a main corporate rate plus a specific contract for a region or sub-brand). Try each one you can find.
For corporate codes at other hotel chains (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, and more), see our hotel corporate codes hub.
Entering the Code in IHG’s Search
On the IHG search page, expand the destination field. You’ll see a Corporate ID section in the dropdown. Enter your code there, and keep Rate Preference on Best Available so the search can show you both the corporate rate and any cheaper standalone options for comparison.

After searching, participating properties will show the corporate rate alongside any other eligible rates.
Compare Corporate vs. Standard Rates
IHG flags corporate rates as “Special/Preferred Rates,” which usually price lower than Best Flexible, but not always. Individual-property promotions, IHG One Rewards member rates, and advance-purchase rates can all undercut the corporate rate on specific dates.

In this example the corporate rate is cheaper than Best Flexible, which is the common case, but check before booking.
What’s Actually Included Beyond the Discount
The room rate is the obvious part, but the wrapper matters too. Most corporate rates include some combination of free Wi-Fi, breakfast, and flexible cancellation. The cancellation policy alone is sometimes worth more than the rate difference, corporate bookings can usually be canceled up to 24 hours before arrival, while advance-purchase promos are non-refundable.
Property-level benefits vary a lot. Read the rate details before booking, especially for longer stays where a breakfast inclusion adds up fast.
IHG corporate bookings are typically cancelable up to 24 hours before arrival, which makes them genuinely useful for plans that aren’t locked in yet.
Presenting ID at Check-In
Corporate rate policies technically require the front desk to verify your eligibility at check-in. Enforcement is wildly inconsistent and regionally driven. Hotels in Asia check ID on us almost every stay; hotels in North America and Europe check less than 10% of the time. Plan to carry proof regardless.
Acceptable forms of identification are:
- A badge or ID card with the company name and your photo
- A business card showing your name, title, and company
- A work email address the hotel can verify by sending a confirmation
Enforcement has tightened up in the last couple of years on branded rates (especially anything tied to a well-known corporate partner). If you show up without proof, a property can re-rate your stay to the walk-in price, which at the last minute is almost always worse than the alternatives you skipped over.
Who Is Actually Eligible
Eligibility varies by company and by chain. Most corporate rates are open to full-time employees, but many also extend to contractors, consultants, and others formally affiliated with the organization. If your company is on the partner list and you’re not sure about your own eligibility, check internally first.
One common misconception: most corporate rates are explicitly intended for business travel only. Using them on personal trips is a gray area, and hotels in leisure destinations often don’t honor corporate codes at all.
For booking, you must be associated with the partner organization and authorized to redeem the rate. Use the steps above to check whether your company’s rate is active at your target property.
Which Locations Offer IHG Corporate Discounts
Coverage isn’t uniform across the IHG portfolio. Each property negotiates its own rate with each corporate account, so the participating list and discount depth both vary by city. Whether you’re booking in New York, San Francisco, or anywhere else, check the rate on your specific dates at the specific property.
Cities with heavy business travel consistently have the deepest corporate coverage; smaller markets are spottier.
Which Companies Get the Best Rates
Rates are negotiated based on volume, so the consulting and tech firms that fill hotel rooms for a living end up with the deepest discounts and the widest property coverage. Deloitte, IBM, Accenture, and the big banks tend to have the strongest deals across chains.
If your company is smaller but consistent in a given city, the local property is often more willing to negotiate a direct rate than corporate ever would be.
Negotiating Your Own IHG Corporate Rate
If your company doesn’t have a rate with IHG today, you can start one, but it’s negotiated property-by-property, not at the chain level. Pick the handful of hotels your team actually stays at and reach out to each one individually.
The process is informal. Email the corporate sales office or the general manager at a property you stay at often, share your expected stay volume and typical employee headcount, and ask for a corporate account. There’s a full walkthrough in our negotiation guide.
Other IHG Discounts
IHG Merlin
The IHG Merlin program is IHG’s employee intranet, and it includes a special employee-issued rate at participating properties. Booking requires a unique link generated by an IHG employee. If you don’t have one, here’s an example.
More Hotel Corporate Programs
Most major hotel chains run a corporate program. If you don’t find a match here, try Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Choice, or browse the full list on our hotel corporate codes hub.
Summary & Takeaways
IHG’s 6,000-property footprint makes its corporate program one of the most useful for frequent business travelers. The discount is usually real, the cancellation policy is generous, and the comparison step (corporate vs. Best Flexible vs. member rate) is the one thing that separates getting a good deal from an average one.
